Start with a named unit

A minimum order is meaningful only when the unit is clear. Individual pouches, filled cans, retail cartons and shipping cases are different things. Ask the supplier to state the unit beside every quantity in the quotation. If a can contains a project-defined number of pouches, that count belongs in the specification and should match the label and packing list.

Separate per-SKU and total requirements

A project can have both a minimum per flavor and a total order minimum. Adding flavors can therefore change the feasible order plan even when the overall volume appears large. Record the SKU definition: formula, flavor, strength where applicable, label language and pack size can each create a separate item. Ask whether packaging components introduce their own print minimums.

Compare the complete commercial basis

A low headline quantity might cover unbranded bulk product while another quote includes filled cans, printed labels and cartons. Check development charges, analytical work, artwork, samples and freight separately. HerbalPouches custom production requires at least 3,000 cans per SKU and a total of at least 9,000 cans per order. The approved formula and packaging determine the price, testing and delivery quotation.

Write a quotation comparison sheet

Use columns for SKU, formula revision, can count, pouches per can, packaging components, test scope, price basis and delivery term. Note exclusions rather than hiding them in a general total. Send the same sheet to each supplier so differences are visible before an order is approved.

Use this in your project brief

  • Identify which decisions are approved and which still need review.
  • Keep the formula, pack, testing and quotation versions connected.
  • Assign a responsible reviewer before an unresolved assumption becomes a label or order requirement.
